After being a hit with fans as a video game, The Last Of Us is now set to be turned into a TV series.
It has been announced Craig Mazin, creator of hit series Chernobyl, will team up with the writer and creative director of the game, Neil Druckmann, to adapt the game into a HBO series.
The series will be the first television series from PlayStation Productions, who will be co-producing the game with Sony Pictures Television and game developer Naughty Dog.
Since its release in 2013, The Last Of Us’ narrative of a post-apocalyptic world in which characters Joel and Ellie begin a gripping journey of survival proved to be a hit with fans.
It has been reported the series will also include events based on the game’s forthcoming sequel, which is due for release on May 29.
In a statement regarding the announcement of the series, Mazin said: ”Neil Druckmann is without question the finest storyteller working in the video game medium, and The Last of Us is his magnum opus.
“Getting a chance to adapt this breathtaking work of art has been a dream of mine for years, and I’m so honored to do it in partnership with Neil.”
