New year, new plug. We’ve wheeled our weekly series of the hottest tunes back to number one, starting the year with a fresh faced feature. It’s business as usual still, as our guy Griff rounds up the 5 hottest tunes this week, hand picking bangers from across the country to bring you only the best. Not only that, but we’ve also included a full SoundCloud playlist for you too, consisting of 18 of the best new tracks. Really, it’s 2016 and we are still The Plug.

Kano – 3 Wheel Ups (ft. Giggs)

Our Legacy Award winner Kano has started the year with a bang. He’s announced a new tour, a new album, and with that a brand new single too. This one features 2 of the best UK rap has to offer, with Giggs and Wiley both set to make appearances (although in classic Wil style, we only have the Giggs verse for now). The song might ask for “3 Wheel Ups”, but this deserves as many reloads as you can give it.

A2 – Me vs You

The ever elusive A2 is continuing his consistent run of dropping absolute vibes online. The South London man/myth’s new track “Me vs You” is melodic as ever, a sorrowful verse taking centre stage over the minimal instrumental, with a longing hook opening and closing the track. This is that 4AM kind of music.

Renz – Told You (ft. Paigey Cakey)

While Renz has been a favourite here at GRM for a little while now, as well as helping pioneer the New Gen movement, he’s still been looking for that one record to help him break out. It feels like he’s one step closer to that with his new tune “Told You”, which epitomizes his Trap and R&B blend so well. Produced by frequent collaborator Jay Jay Musika and featuring Paigey Cakey, this one is already gaining some high profile support. If you miss this blow, don’t say we didn’t tell you.

Ellz – Do Better

Bad Side’s Ellz is another artist who is successfully  blurring the line between rap, R&B and everything in between. His latest drop “Do Better” is equally mellow and merky, sing-songing his way through some verses, which breeze effortlessly along with his production. It doesn’t get much better than this.

WSTRN – IN2 (Remix ft. Kehlani)

WSTRN’s “IN2” has been an undeniable success in the back end of 2015, and it doesn’t look like their ear worm is gonna stop receiving airplay anytime soon. The 3 lads get an extra verse from their label mate and generally fleeky songstress Kehlani, who adds a personal and feminine touch to the track. With Kehlani’s profile always rising stateside, maybe this is something the Yanks could be in 2? Either way, we are rating this remix heavy.
