It’s been almost a decade since The Streets released an albu, and at 40 years old, Mike Skinner has shifted from has his tales of life and pirate radio beat.s to a brand new sound as he brings in the likes of Ms Banks and Idles for his new mixtape titled None of Us Are Getting Out Of This Life Alive.
Skinner still sounds like the nearly spoken-word star we all know and love as None of Us Are Getting Out of This Life Alive captures the feeling of the Streets’ past with some clever lyricism, while offering a new sound after cleverly picking some collaborators who are doing big things in the industry right now.
The 12 track project finds Skinner’s instantly recognisable vocals combined with newer acts on each song. Tame Imapala’s Kevin Parker offers a smooth chorus on “Call My Phone Thinking I’m Doing Nothing Better”, Idles frontman Joe Talbot story tells over the bassy instrumental on the title track, while Ms. Banks delivers some unapologetically fierce lyrics on “You Can’t Afford Me”.
None Of Us Are Getting Out Of This Life Alive proves how The Streets have still got it. Listen to the new album below!
