The TV Collective have partnered up with ITV, BBC, Channel 4 & BFI to launch a series of online events to address the challenges BAME industry professionals are currently facing due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Starting today (May 12) until July, the series will be made up of free online talks and Q&As, led by a number of different industry experts from TV, digital media and other areas of the creative field.

Attendees will be able to gain access to the online events via The TV Collective’s Instagram and Facebook, where they can receive advice and express any concerns they may have.

Speaking on the free online series, Simone Pennant MBE, the TV Collective’s founder, said: “While some are adjusting to the new landscape and the opportunities it presents, most BAME workers I speak to, tell me they felt disenfranchised before but now feel more vulnerable than ever.

“We’re using our platform and network to pull together, to unpick the challenges faced by many BAME workers in our industry, whilst providing a safe space for them to ask frank questions from their perspective.

“My hope is to use this ‘pause’ to discuss how we can make the industry more inclusive and progressive as we go forward.”

The #TVCCovid online talks began today with Remy Blumenfeld, a former ITV executive, and will be followed by employees from the likes of Spotify, Channel 4, BBC3 and more.
