TikTok Launches Music Marketing & Distribution Platform ‘SoundOn’ To Empower New Artists

TikTok has officially entered the music marketing and distribution field with a brand-new platform called SoundOn.

The platform – which has been established to “empower new and undiscovered artists” – allows musicians to upload their music directly to TikTok and earn royalties when that music is used.

In the first year SoundOn will pay out 100% royalties to music creators and 90% after that.

Artists who sign up will be offered audience insight and development, expert advice from SoundOn’s dedicated artist team, promotional support through creator marketing and access to TikTok’s song’s tab where music is linked on profile pages.

SoundOn can also distribute to other music platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.

Ole Obermann, Global Head of Music at TikTok, said:  “New artists and musical creators are a vibrant community within TikTok and SoundOn is designed to support them as they take the first steps in their career. Our SoundOn teams will guide creators on their journey to the big stage and bring the expertise and power of TikTok to life for the artist.
