Actor Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister, most known for his role as Deebo in Friday, has died at the age of 62.

The Los Angeles County Sheriffs department confirmed Lister’s death but no cause has been determined as of yet.

According to TMZ, law enforcement received a call to the actor’s apartment in Marina Del Rey, Los Angeles at 3pm (local time) on Thursday (December 10) for an unconscious male. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

It’s believed Lister died of natural causes, but an autopsy will be performed to determine his official cause of death.

Lister rose to fame following his role as the neighbourhood thug Deebo in Friday and Next Friday, alongside co-stars Ice Cube and Chris Tucker, in the 90s.

More recently, he appeared in the sci-fi action film The Fifth Element and the huge blockbuster, The Dark Knight.

Since learning of his death, Ice Cube has paid tribute to his former castmate saying: “RIP Tiny “Deebo” Lister. America’s favorite bully was a born entertainer who would pop into character at the drop of a hat terrifying people on and off camera.  Followed by a big smile and laugh. Thank you for being a good dude at heart. I miss you already.”
