Netflix Announce Final Season Of ‘Top Boy’

Top Boy will return for one last final season it has been announced.

Following on from the release of new episodes of Top Boy earlier this month, Netflix has now announced on Twitter that the critically acclaimed series starring Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson will return for a farewell series.

In a tweet, Netflix said, “every TOP BOY has their time… and that time is coming. TOP BOY will return for the third and final season, filming starts this summer.”

Season four of the series was expected to be released back in 2020 but production was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fans received the new episodes two years later and were offered an action-packed season starring familiar faces Micheal Ward, Jasmine Jobson and Little Simz as well as new faces in the form of Nolay, Adwoa Aboah and more.

To celebrate the release of the series, we caught up with the cast for a very special interview.

Top Boy first appeared on our screens back in 2011 and since then, has become a cultural staple. Following its cancellation by Channel 4 in 2014, the series was picked up by Netflix in 2017 and offered a new narrative that centred the characters amidst contemporary issues like gentrification, social care and housing developments.

In related news, Kane “Kano” Robinson who stars in Top Boy as Sully is set to feature in Daniel Kaluuya’s upcoming new project The Kitchen.
