The teaser trailer for Toy Story 4 has just dropped and it looks epic.
Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Mr Potato Head, Rex and the gang all appear in the short clip which shows the toys floating in the air in unison before the dreamy moment is ruined by new character Forky who panics and pushes everyone over. Watch the trailer below.
Forky is described as “a reluctant new toy” by Pixar who brings the gang on a “road trip adventure”.
Toy Story 3 was the end of the Andy led Toy Story era. The first two films centred around Woody and co.’s adventures as Andy’s toys. The third film took an emotional turn as Andy went off to college and parted ways with his childhood toys as he prepared for adult life.
Many thought this to be the end of the franchise and this was confirmed by one of the film’s writers, Lee Unkrich. However, Toy Story 3 ended with the toys being donated to pre-schooler Bonnie and this created the possibility for a new narrative to be created. A series of short films were released which saw the gang adjust to life as Bonnie’s toys, these include Small Fry, Partysaurus Rex and the Halloween themed Toy Story of Terror.
Toy Story 4 was officially announced in 2014 and is due to be released in summer 2019. Tim Allen who voices Buzz Lightyear recently teased the emotional nature of the film in a recent interview. He said, “It is so emotional, it’s so funny, it’s so big, the idea they’ve come up with, I’m startled…I couldn’t even get through the last scene. They’ve got great characters but a couple of scenes toward the end were really hard to get through.”
Toy Story 4 has a scheduled release of the 21st of June 2019, 24 years after the release of the first Toy Story film.
