In a moment that Tracy Beaker fans have been waiting for, it has been confirmed that Jacqueline Wilson is in the process of writing a follow up story to one of Britain’s most beloved fictional characters, Tracy Beaker.

A far cry from the moody teenager with all the sassy ad-libs that we all knew and loved Tracy for, this time round the new novel will follow an all grown up Tracy and her trials and tribulations as a single mother living on a council estate.

The novel, entitled My Mum Tracy Beaker, will be told from the perspective of Jess, Tracy’s nine year old daughter. In an interview with the Guardian, Wilson explained her reasoning for taking this approach to the story explaining, “If we were in real time, Tracy herself would be in her 30s.”

The book sequel will be aimed at mainly seven-11 year olds but written with an older audience in mind too, and is scheduled to be released this coming autumn.
