Tyler, the Creator and DJ Khaled appear to be taking digs at each other via social media.
On the 17th of May, DJ Khaled released his latest album Father Of Asahd, the same day that Tyler, The Creator released his highly anticipated album IGOR. IGOR went straight to the number one spot on the Billboard 200 with Father Of Asahd placing second.
This week it came to light that DJ Khaled wasn’t best pleased about his album sales and reportedly stormed into his label’s office throwing a tantrum that his sales couldn’t complete with Tyler, The Creator’s.
Khaled took to Instagram to rant saying “I make albums so people can play it. And you actually hear it. You know, driving your car you hear another car playing it. Go to the barber shop, you hear them playing it. You know, turn the radio on, and you hear them playing it. It’s playing everywhere – it’s called great music. It’s called albums that you actually hear the songs. Not no mysterious shit and you never hear it.” Fans quickly came to the conclusion that the “Mysterious” album was IGOR as it’s more of a “niche” project compared to Father Of Asahd.
In response, Tyler took to social media and decided to remind Khaled that Instagram followers don’t always translate into album sales.
Tyler, the Creator recently sold out the iconic venue Madison Square Garden and a Tyler fan tweeted evidence of this with the caption, “doing pretty good for some ‘mysterious shit.’ To which Tyler replied, “yeah I am, IGOR OUT NOW.”
Tyler continued to mock Khaled, making comments such as “who tf listens to Tyler, The Creator?” and “HIS MSG SHOW SOLD OUT BUT FT I NEVER HEARD A TYLER SONG IN MY LIFE.”
Khaled is yet to respond and has since deleted his rant of Instagram.
