With the 2022 Commonwealth Games commencing this week, the official anthem for the event has been released featuring UB40, Dapz On The Map and Gilly G.
With the games taking place in Birmingham, UK, “Champion” unites three Brum-hailing acts who fuse their contrasting sounds to create an uplifting, reggae-infused tone.
The arrival of “Champion” coincides with the launch of the 2022 Commonwealth Games which is set to begin this Thursday (July 28).
“We are proud to be representing the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games with the official anthem “Champion”,” UB40 guitarist Robin Campbell said in a statement. “Birmingham represents the best of global Britain and it’s our pleasure to showcase this to the world. Birmingham is a city of champions!”
