Uber officially apologised on Monday (29 April) after its support Twitter account tweeted a highly offensive racist slur.
The initial tweet was in response to a Twitter user complaining about Uber’s services.

The apology was made via Twitter as Uber assured customers they are investigating what had happened to ensure an issue like this does not re-occur.
According to reports, the Twitter user who initially sent the complaint most likely changed his name to generate the racist response, quickly reverting the changes after receiving Uber’s response.
An official spokesperson for Uber told Mashable “we apologise for this offensive tweet and are disappointed our process to prevent something like this from happening was not effective here”.
Although the tweet was allegedly elicited by a user, it has become a concern that the company did not have efficient processes in place to prevent such tweets from being published.
