The Government have announced the controversial ‘porn ban’ has been scrapped.

Initially the ban was going to come into effect on 15th July of this year but this was delayed after an important process was not undertaken. However, today digital secretary, Nicky Morgan, has confirmed that the plans will not be commencing.

The proposed plans would mean that no one would be able to watch adult content online without providing legitimate forms of identification to prove your age.

In a written statement to Parliament, Morgan said that the Government would instead be channelling its efforts into its new ‘online harms’ regulation which hopes to address issues caused by children accessing pornographic websites.

She continued to say that adult content is too easily accessible online and more needs to be done to protect children from harm.
