Cigarette laws are changing this month and smokers are in for some strict sanctions.

Under the new laws, all menthol cigarettes, including skinny cigarettes and menthol rolling tobacco, will all be banned.

The above will be banned from all UK retailers from Wednesday the 20th of May in a bid by the government to stop all smoking across England and Wales.

The ban derives from the EU Tobacco Product Directive laws that were put in place to stop young people from picking up the smoking habit. For the same reason, sales of ten packs of cigarettes were banned in 2017.

Smoking levels have declined in recent years but many young people are taking up vaping which has caused nicotine addiction in a new generation.

Vapes have courted controversy recently as some American users have caught respiratory illnesses and blame vapes for them. President Donald Trump criticised them and called for vapes to be sanctioned in response.
