Valiant, the stage name of the Jamaican dancehall star known for hits like “Mad Out”, “Narcissistic” and “Dunce Cheque”, is defined as “possessing or showing courage or determination” and never has a moniker been more fitting.
With back-to-back shows across the globe this year including his first ever appearance at London’s Wireless Festival and the consistent release of hits, Valiant is showing a clear possession of courage and determination as he continues to establish himself as a star outside of Jamaica.
Valiant’s European tour saw him perform in Paris, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester and eventually in London where the “Mad Out” artist performed to a sold-out crowd at Camden’s Roundhouse.
With 3,000 fans in attendance, support from DJs as well as UK crooner Jay’O, the stage was set for Valiant to give it his all and he did – and then some.
Opening with tracks like fan favourite “Loyal Gal” which features Skeng, the viral track “GTFK” and the very naughty single “Polygamy”, Valiant offered an onslaught of hits to the euphoric delight of his fans.
Dancers added to the theatrics of the show, as did lighting and visual effects.
Set list highlights include “Expensive”, “Barbies”, “Lover Boy”, “Speed Off”, his breakout track “Dunce Cheque”, “Rasta” and “North Carolina”.
Never forgetting to interact with the crowd, Valiant showed his appreciation for his fans on several occasions and even invited two girls on stage to sing Stalk Ashley’s part of their classic duet “Narcissistic” – a track which will receive a sequel soon as told to GRM in a recent interview with the dancehall rockstar.
NDotz, Strandz and Headie One appeared on stage as special guests, offering Valiant some rest time as they performed their viral hits.
Later Valiant returned and finished the show with party hits like “Bubble Gum”, “Lumbah” and “Gwaan Suh”.
Closing the show was none other than “Mad Out” – the Big Bunx Riddim cut that kept Valiant on everyone’s dancehall playlist when it was released in July 2023. The track sits on 17 million YouTube views and counting.
An excellent show, Valiant is sticking to his promise of putting on for new dancehall and is sure to one day receive the legendary status he yearns for.
Valiant will be releasing an EP soon and his new single “Little Red Riding” is out now.
