Video assistant referee system (VAR) might be displayed to fans during this season’s FA Cup semi-finals.
The Football Association have decided that during Wembley’s upcoming semi-final’s that VAR replays could help give “clarity” and “transparency” to fans inside the stadium. This comes after criticisms that decisions can sometimes be unclear if a decision is overturned.
This won’t be the first time VAR has been used in the UK after it made its English debut in Brighton v Crystal Palace back in January 2018. Russia’s world cup also used VAR to display incidents on their screens during the following summer.
The system is currently only used at Premier League grounds and will be used in the Premier League from next season.
