Following a successful eight months running in London, shared ride service ViaVan have announced the extension of their services to zone 5.

ViaVan launched earlier this year, April to be exact and in this short space of time they have built up a positive reputation when it comes to low fares, treatment from drivers and customer safety. The only thing missing from the successful business structure was the miles that they covered. Up until this week, riders were only able to ride between zone 1 and 2.

However, the joint venture set up between Via and Mercedes-Benz have just announced that they now reach out to zone 5. Since the announcement yesterday, passengers have complained of a sudden increase in fares, but ViaVan have not yet made a statement on inflation.

The ViaVan app is set up with a specific algorithm which enables multiple riders to seamlessly share a single vehicle. The technology used directs passengers to a nearby corner – a virtual bus stop – for pick up and drop off, allowing for quick and efficient shared trips eliminating lengthy detours that would take a rider out of their way.

This enables ViaVan’s system to transport a high volume of passengers while using a fraction of the number of vehicles utilized by taxis or on-demand car services.
