Vine is set to make a comeback as a new app named Byte in 2019, according to the app’s creator.

Since Vine came to an end last year, the co-founder of the app Dom Hoffman has been working on creating a new version of the popular video app and now he has confirmed its release.

Taking to Twitter to announce the app, Hoffman wrote “our new video looping app is called byte. launching spring 2019”.

Details about Byte are scarce at the moment but similarly to Vine, it will be a video looping app and is said to already have a team working on it, as well as funding.

Last year Hoffman was working on “V2” of Vine but the project came to an end months later due to financial reasons.

In the four years Vine was active, it launched the careers of several now famous social media creators such as Logan Paul and King Bach.

Of comparisons to Vine and Byte, Hoffman said “Vine was 99 percent community, and one percent the app we built for them

“So ‘Vine’ being ‘back’ really comes down to whether or not the community is there. Regardless of the name or who made it”.
