More than 30 people have been arrested following violent conflicts between protesters and police during the major anti-vaccination and anti-lockdown protest in Central London.

A few protesters were seen seeking medical attention and just after 5pm, the Trafalgar Square landmark was finally cleared of protesters.

Hundreds of people gathered for the Resist And Act For Freedom rally on Saturday afternoon, with huge crowds of conspiracy theorists carrying 5G conspiracy placards and signs stating that Covid-19 is a “hoax”.

Police were on the scene with human blockades and were forced back by rowdy crowds as they attempted to clear the street around Nelson’s column, with some protesters even throwing missiles directed at the police and one protester was seen spitting through an open window of a taxi.

The protest comes as London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan warned that it is “increasingly likely” that more stringent lockdown restrictions will be introduced in London like they have been in the North East of England as he remains “extremely concerned” about the transmission rate in London.

Protests are excluded from the Rule of Six laws introduced earlier in the week but only if they are “organised in compliance with Covid-19 Secure guidance.”
