Earlier this year, it was revealed that BBC Films was behind an upcoming movie about the rap battle scene in the UK entitled ‘VS.’ and the trailer for the gripping film is finally here.
‘VS.’ follows the life of a foster-teen named Adam Watson, played by Connor Swindells, who relocates to his birthplace in Southend and is quickly introduced to the battle scene in the area. As he becomes a prominent figure in the underground rap world, Adam is confronted by his biological mother after twelve years and he is forced to balance his past with his present-day success as an MC.
The likes of Joivan Wade, Shotty Horror, Paigey Cakey and Fola Evans-Akingbola all appear alongside Swindells on-screen. The film also includes music from Skepta, Stormzy, Avelino and a number of other big British artists.
‘VS.’ is Ed Lilly’s debut feature film and the movie is being co-financed by BBC Films and Lorton Entertainment.
The film opens in cinemas in the the UK and Ireland on the 19th October.
