If you’re a Londoner, or have visited London, you’ll know that the commute to work, school or college is sh*t, for want of a better phrase. Now, an American living in London has decided to make it even worse.
Jonathan Dunne had 500 badges made up in the style of TFL’s famous Baby on Board badge, with the words “Tube Chat?” on them.
That’s an absolute nightmare. Jonathan is encouraging a nation that doesn’t even tell someone when they have lippy on their teeth to talk… to strangers?
Although it’s our idea of hell, his reasoning behind it is pretty sweet. Having worked in the NHS, he attempted to organise an event to coincide with the Olympics.
When nobody bothered to participate, he got thinking about how isolating London can be. The idea of the badges is to let your fellow passengers know you are approachable and happy to converse on your journey.
On handing out the badges Dunne said, “I thought it would be fun to hand them out. It wasn’t that fun.”
Having handed out all his badges in Old Street Station, the hashtag #Tube_Chat has been trending, with some hilarious Tweets. Check out some of our favorites below.
We appreciate your effort Jonathan, but did no one ever teach you stranger danger?
