There have been some pretty ridiculous red cards in football over the years. None more so than one that got dished out this weekend though.
During Luton’s 3-1 win against Doncaster on Saturday over in League Two, their striker Danny Hylton was sent off in stoppage time, apparently for throwing some rubbish to the side of the pitch in a second bookable offence.
Luton Town’s official Twitter account posted:
It seems like referee Andy Haines may have been extremely harsh on the player, dishing out one of the strangest red cards in recent football history.
However, Town manager Nathan Jones took a slightly different view. He said, “I’m disappointed with Danny because he showed a lack of discipline.
“I won’t say too much as I’ve told him in the dressing room. He’s so far in credit that we’ll give him that one but we lost him [to suspension] now.”
