The rematch between Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin has been postponed after the Russian boxer was hospitalised after tested positive for coronavirus.
Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing announced the postponing of the bout on Twitter, writing: “Povetkin-Whyte II is postponed with a new target date of 30 January 2021.”
The pair were scheduled to go head to head again on November 21 after Povetkin defeated Whyte back in August.
Hearn has hinted at a possible match-up between Whyte and Tyson Fury instead in December, tweeting: “Dillian Whyte v Tyson Fury anyone?”
Fury is set to fight in the UK on December 5 but is currently without an opponent.
Derek Chisora has also expressed an interest in going up against Whyte again, tweeting I’m ready to go donkey #WhyteChisora3.”
