It has been announced that a Wiley biopic is in the works, detailing his come up as one of the pioneers of one of our greatest UK exports, grime music.
Pulse Films and BMG will be helming the project, while Adam Smith will be taking on directing duties, telling Wiley’s story from a struggling bedroom producer to a real legendary figure in a scene he helped to create. Back in the day, Smith directed Wil’s classic “Wot Do U Call It?” music video.
Wiley said, “This is my life, my highs and lows, but it’s not really all about me. When I make music, help the scene or even do something like this, it’s like I’m not alone any more. It’s for people who grew up like me. I’m doing it to help people who are lost like me.”
Pulse’s Thomas Benski and Lucas Ochoa, A-List Management’s John Woolf, and BMG’s William Kennedy, Kathy Daum, Janaya Cowie, Wiley’s sister and Jamal Edwards will executive produce.
There’s no release date for the dramatised Wiley biopic yet, but stay tuned to GRM Daily for more details. Catch up with his most recent Godfather 2 album too.
