Wiley is constantly surprising us and now, he has shocked fans by revealing that he is changing his name to EskiSound.
The Godfather of Grime took to Twitter to announce the name change, writing: “In 2020 I am dropping music under the name #EskiSound See you in 2020 and beyond.”
Since he first emerged in the scene at the start of the century, Wiley has championed the term ‘eski’, having frequently referred to himself as Eskiboy throughout the years as well as coining the phrase ‘eskibeats’ to refer to his production style from the noughties.
The rapper is due to release his long-awaited Godfather 3 album on January 1st so we can expect his new moniker of EskiSound to be titled on the project.
It’s not yet known whether Wiley will return to his original name but judging by the sounds of things, EskiSound is here to stay.
