Wiley has been teasing us with snippets of his upcoming tracks for a while and now, he’s previewed his collaboration with Nicki Minaj and Popcaan.
The Godfather of grime took to Instagram to share a snippet of his track with the two artists, writing: “Right let’s do this @nickiminaj @popcaanmusic #NoPlayTing #Ready”.
Despite being one of the pioneers of grime, Wiley has never shied away from experimenting with sounds and judging by the preview of his collab with Nicki and Popcaan, he switches it up again to create a vibey dancehall-inspired riddim.
Speaking to NME about the collaboration, Wiley said: “I didn’t think [Nicki] was gonna do the track”
“But when it came in I couldn’t believe how hard she fucked the track up – she took it back to her ‘Monster’ verse on Kanye’s album.”
During his chat with NME, Wiley also announced that we can expect his highly-anticipated Godfather 3 album will be released on October 18th.
