Wizkid’s new album Made In Lagos has finally arrived!
As the title of the album suggests, the afrobeats star’s latest album pays homage to his hometown of Lagos in Nigeria as he represents the contemporary sound of the city on 14 original tracks.
The features on the project reflect Wizkid’s global reach, enlisting UK artists such as Skepta and Ella Mai, as well as Jamaica’s very own Damian Marley too. Despite this, Wizkid does recruit fellow Nigerian artists Terri and the African Giant Burna Boy to reinforce the Nigerian sound.
Made In Lagos was initially due for release on October 15 but was delayed as Wizkid showed respect to activists protesting against police brutality in Nigeria.
“It has been beautiful to see Nigerians around the world coming together to protest against police brutality,” Wizkid said in a press release. “Unity is key. The youth of Nigeria need our collective voices to continue to shine a spotlight to what is happening inside the country.
“I want to play my part in this and in the movement for a better Nigeria, a better place to live for ourselves, our families—our communities. We will get through this together. Together we move. #endSARS.”
