A woman was arrested on Friday morning after allegedly attempting to steal multiple vehicles, claiming she was telepathically instructed by Kanye West.
The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Ricki Smith, was seen trying to open car doors in a parking lot. A witness reported that Smith entered an unlocked vehicle and refused to leave when confronted.
The situation intensified when Smith allegedly tried to enter another car as its owner was walking into a store. The owner, who was taking her child to daycare, intervened and forcibly removed Smith from the vehicle. The child was in the backseat at the time and the owner pressed charges against Smith.
Smith told authorities she had traveled from Louisville to Evansville, where the incident happened, after her car broke down and hitchhiked the rest of the way.
She claimed that Ye communicated with her telepathically, instructing her to steal a vehicle.
Smith was arrested and taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail. Further investigation revealed that she had crashed her car on Highway 64 before abandoning it.
