Just weeks after 0207 Def Jam was launched as the UK home of the iconic Def Jam label, it has now been announced the legend Wretch 32 will join the record label as Creative Director.

0207 Def Jam, an imprint from Universal Music and Def Jam Recordings, is a brand-new frontline label which will support and develop talent from across the UK.

Under his new Creative Director role, Wretch 32 will assist in shaping “the musical direction of the label alongside A&R Director Char Grant, and the wider A&R team.”

The north London rap giant will join the label’s Co-Presidents and twin brothers Alec and Alex Boateng, as well as Amy Tettey (Managing Director) Jacqueline Eyewe (Marketing Director) and Char Grant (A&R Director).

Speaking on the news, Wretch 32 said: “I’m excited to make a new mark in music with a team that’s reminiscent of the first label I signed with (Levels).

“I feel as though I’m going full circle working with Alec again and I’m just as excited to be working closely with Alex and the entire 0207 Def Jam family. I believe that when music is your calling, you have the ability to prove it in multiple arenas and now I’m looking forward to seeing projects through a different lens, creative directing and A&Ring.”

News of Wretch 32’s new role at 0207 Def Jam comes after Stormzy was recently announced as the first artist to join the label’s roster.
