U.S. rapper Young Dolph has died at the age of 36 after being fatally shot in his hometown of Memphis.
The rapper’s passing was confirmed to FOX13 by three independent law enforcement sources.
Police said the shooting took place at Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies, a local bakery in Memphis.
According to the owner of the store, Young Dolph was shot as he walked in to buy cookies when someone drove up and began firing through the front window. The rapper died at the scene.
Since emerging in the 2010s, Young Dolph quickly became a heavyweight in U.S. hip-hop, giving us big hits such as “Major” and “On The River”. The rapper also collaborated with the likes of Lil Durk, G Herbo and Megan Thee Stallion.
Several figures have taken to social media to pay tribute to the rapper since learning of his passing.
“Damn man, me and Dolph used to be next door neighbors,” Lil Yachty wrote on Twitter. “Smh. RIP DOLPH.”
Gucci Mane wrote: “R. I.P. to my friend Dolph this broke my heart.”
