YouTuber Craig Douglas – or Nepenthez as he’s known in the gaming world – has pleaded guilty after a betting website connected to the game Fifa has got him into hot water.

Douglas and his business partner Dylan Rigby ran the website FUT Galaxy, which let gamers gamble with virtual currency. It let users transfer their currency out of Fifa 17, to be used on real-life football games, with the winnings being transferred back to their Fifa account.

Crazily, Fifa currency can be sold on the black market, giving the virtual money real life value, with similar websites offering the same services. Apparently the market is worth billions of pounds.

This will be the first case in the UK where the gambling commission has prosecuted people for running a gambling site linked to a video game. Mad.
