Fresh his double win at the recent MOBO Awards [Best Male & Best Grime Act], South London rapper Stormzy has been revealed as the latest name to join Apple’s Beats 1 radio station. The star, who made history in September when his Wicked Skengman 4 freestyle made it to #18 in the official chart – the highest charting freestyle – will present the Merky Show with his official DJ, DJ Tiiny, every Friday at 8pm. The news was announced by Big Mike himself yesterday afternoon via Twitter;

The rapper is no stranger to hosting a Beats 1 show as he stepped in for regular host Julie Adenuga when she took some well deserved time off last month. The show not only featured Stormzy dropping a number of exclusive tracks and freestyles, but saw his alter ego Stiff Chocolate take to the mic for a slow jamz session “strictly for the for the ladies”. Stormz also announced last night that he wanted to help support unsigned artists and urged fans to send through their music; “loadsssss of riddims coming through keep em coming!! I promise to go through ALL of them, and will let everyone know if imma use them!”

Stormzy’s Merky Show will join the listings alongside Pharell William’s OTHERtone, Dr Dre’s The Pharmacy and Drake’s OVO Sound Radio as well as featured DJs Zane Lowe and Julie Adenuga. This is certainly a big look for the South London rapper and caps off a fantasic 2015, with UK stars from P Money and Yungen and many more have taken to Twitter to congratulate Stormzy. The show begins this Friday (20/11/2015) at 8pm so make sure to lock into Apple Music and Beats 1 Radio.
