What’s great about the young and developing scene we have in London (and beyond), is the sheer diversity of it. It seems every day a new artist is coming to our attention, sounding new and innovative and original, yet still so distinctly British.
Artists are getting weird and artists are getting experimental, and it’s due time we started highlighting some of these creatives that may otherwise slip under our radar. With that being said, welcome back to Go Left; GRM’s guide to alternative grime, hip-hop and R&B, the best of what you may not have heard yet.
Along with today’s usual playlist, we are premiering a very special track called “High Vis” by talented rapper Frenzy, which is taken from his upcoming EP PERSONALITY due for release very soon. Frenzy is enthusiastic as ever on the thumping, Ruben Joy produced beat, stating proudly he’s “Ronaldo in a song”.
King Kay’s triumphant “Stay” follows, rapping deeply and controlling the J Louis produced beat effortlessly. Rageouz makes the playlist with “Van Gogh”, sampling a quote from the politically charged satire film Wag The Dog, showcasing clever wordplay throughout.
Go Left regular Kieron Boothe features with a track off his new mixtape The Lone Wolf lll: In The House called “Legacy”, spitting fluidly over another vintage hip hop instrumental produced by ksun; you can even hear the vinyl crackling in the background it feels that classic.
Finally, we cap the 35th Go Left edition with a more up tempo, wavey track in Lancey Foux’s “STROLL”. As always Foux’s hook is killer, revealing he has no time for standard talk and breaks the rules because they’re “not for him”.

As part of a celebration of Cortex’s name change and one year anniversary, which funnily enough is our anniversary also, the event will host regularly featured artists from Go Left’s playlist such as New World Ray and his No Politics Mob, Jords, Kieron Boothe and singer Hourigan, plus DJs BeanyPresents and PANAROUX. Artists/photographers from Cortex’s talented group will also be showcasing work on the night too.
