Wiley, the Godfather of Grime, has been awarded with an MBE.

Born Richard Cowie, the legendary MC has been honoured by the Queen with one of the highest honours available, for his contributions to music.

Although it won’t come as a shock to fans of Wil, who’s undeniably one of the pillars of grime music from its inception, pioneering the genre forward to this day, it’s still somewhat remarkable that the establishment has recognised him in this manner.

From the high rise blocks of Bow, all the way to Buckingham Palace, Wiley is sure to have an end-of-year to remember… that is if he turns up to meet Lizzy!

Congratulations to Wiley and his entire team. History made.

Don’t forget that his forthcoming Godfather 2 album is still slated for release soon; check the last drop from that right here on GRM Daily.
