An ambitious new water park is being built in the UK, with building work beginning on the £250 million project.
It is set to be the only water park, spa and wellness retreat in the entire country and is expected to be finished by 2025.
The park – dubbed Therme Manchester – is being built on the old site of Event City, located in Trafford Centre and set to be connected to central Manny via metro link.
At 28,000 square feet, the site is set to contain 35 slides, 30 pools, a beach, swim-up bars, as well as botanical gardens and greenery.
James Whittaker from Peel L&P – the company behind the project – said, “Therme Manchester is a landmark development for the North and something the UK has never seen before.
“It’s incredibly exciting to see the land being prepared to welcome the resort to TraffordCity and we’re proud to help bring such an amazing attraction to the North West which we know will be enjoyed by so many people across the country whether it’s for a fun family day out, relaxation or educational trips.”
While the water park is a couple of years away from being finished, composite images – like the one above – give an indication of what Therme Manchester could look like.
