Whether or not you know your Marvels from your DCs, you’ll no doubt want to hear about the tirade of epic movie trailers which were released at this year’s Comic-Con International, San Diego. For comic fans and novices alike, we have compiled a list of blockbusters for you to swot-up on and find out which are the ultimate must-see films of 16/17.

The Walking Dead

Fox presents season seven of The Walking Dead in this gloriously blood-thirsty trailer. More zombies, more carnage, more tigers. Wait, tigers?… Either way there are no big giveaways as to what exactly will be revealed in October, after having left us on such a cruel cliff hanger at the end of season six.

Luke Cage

Luke Cage, of Marvel’s Jessica Jones, gets his own series which is due to premier on Netflix on September 30th. The show follows Cage (Mike Colter) as he navigates New York City with his new-found strength and impenetrable skin, following an experiment gone wrong.

Justice League

Justice League looks like DC with a difference; the clip takes us by surprise with a little light-hearted comedy to punctuate the usual heavy-going action. Featuring Batman and friends (where’s Superman though?-yes we saw BVS, but no spoilers), Justice League will surely reinstate some confidence into DC fans after the flop that was Batman vs Superman. Out November 2017.

Suicide Squad

A painstakingly put-together trailer over the official comic-con soundtrack remix, Will Smith and co. are followed around New York as their misfit squad of DC villains get up to no good – with a fleeting appearance from Batman. Out next month!

Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot stars as Wonder Woman in DC’s first female-led superhero movie. Set in World War I, the film combines stunning visuals with a witty script to bring you one of the ultimate action films of 2017. This is one we can not wait for.

Doctor Strange

Marvel’s Doctor Strange is due to land this November and boy does it look trippy. If you like films that make you think then make sure you see this one, featuring mind-bending performances from Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Rachel McAdams.

Kong: Skull Island

Brought to you by the producers of the new Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island promises us fast-paced thriller action against a backdrop of awe-inspiring scenery. Featuring quality performances from Samuel L. Jackson and John Goodman, this re-imagining of a classic piece of Hollywood history is most definitely one for the big screen.
