With the third season of The Rap Game UK kicking off this week, it’s only right you get to know the artists taking part in the competition beforehand!
Hosted by DJ Target, Krept and Konan, The Rap Game UK is a BAFTA-nominated talent show show in which six unsigned rappers receive a masterclass in rap to break into the music industry.
Battling it out for the £20,000 prize are six MCs from up and down the country named Kay Rico, Saidu, Pocaa, Oakzy B, BrynBP and KayDizzy.
Kay Rico
Kay Rico is a Manchester-hailing rapper who has already worked with some big names in the scene. In 2018 he supported Wiley on The Godfather II tour and has also worked with fellow Mancunian star Aitch, who he also grew up with. He’s inspired by the likes of Ghetts, Wretch 32 and Chip and aims to “entertain everyone that’s locked in.”
Saidu
Putting on for London is 19-year-old Saidu from Bermondsey. He describes his music as being predominantly grime but is willing to tap into other genres. He believes his USP is his wordplay and he has big dreams of going platinum.
Pocaa
Also representing for London in the third series is Pocaa – a Hackney resident hoping to impress viewers with her versatility. Her favourite artists range from Youngs Teflon, Skrapz and Hus to U.S. legends Missy Elliott and Lil Kim. She’s not looking to play any games, adding that it’s “go time”.
Oaksy B
Glasgow’s Oaksy B is another contestant with huge goals as he hopes to be the biggest musician to ever come out of Scotland. Despite having a following in his home nation, the 24-year-old – who started rapping at five – wants to showcase his skills to the rest of Britain on The Rap Game UK.
BrynBP
BrynBP, from south London, is another rapper taking part in the talent show in season three. The 21-year-old fell in love with rap after her brother introduced her to the likes of Biggie, Tupac and Snoop Dogg as a youngster. She wants to use her voice to inspire others and aims to sell out arenas in the future!
KayDizzy
Last up is KayDizzy from Stoke, a 19-year-old who has struggled with self-belief in the past but has big dreams of making his mother proud. Some of his favourite rappers include Chip, Krept & Konan and Bugzy Malone and like some of the fellow artists on the show, he has plans to be one of the biggest artists in the UK.
