“When I was younger I would write music on and off, it was more of a hobby rather than something I wanted to pursue as a career. When my son was born my attention was diverted as he became my main focus, but I decided to start writing again in March as I felt like I was missing a creative outlet. Growing up I felt particularly inspired by the rapper Eminem; I felt his lyrical deliverance and controversial subjects created a bold impact within the rap industry. With this said, I am now listening to the likes of Bugzy Malone and Stormzy as I feel that we have a wide spectrum of talent here in the UK which is often overlooked. I think it’s important to show acknowledgment and support for our own – There are many artists who have paved a way in the UK music industry; whilst their hard work seems to have paid off, they are still quite underrated.
In terms of my overall vision I just want to reinstate that I never made music with the intention to get famous, I simply do it because I enjoy the creative process and love to perform. It would be amazing to tour around the world with fellow artists but at the same time the idea of becoming famous is daunting. Don’t get me wrong, I would never shun an opportunity and I am extremely lucky to be performing in New York City, I just want to keep creating music for myself and others to enjoy – anything else is just a considerable bonus.”
