White Chicks 2 could be in works according to Marlon Wayans.

Released in 2004, the comedy film directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans and written by brothers Shawn and Marlon become a cult classic thanks to its physical comedy and parody of Los Angeles socialites.

Rumours about a possible sequel have been swirling for years and now Marlon has spoken about the possibility of the next instalment in a new interview.

Marlon said, “I think White Chicks 2 is necessary. I think we’ve tightened up so much that we need to loosen our ties a bit and laugh a little bit.  The $37 million film grossed more than $113 million worldwide.

“I don’t think Hollywood understands what a juggernaut White Chicks 2 would be. And the world just keeps giving us more ideas. White Chicks 2 is writing itself.”

The original film starred the Wayans brothers alongside Busy Phillips, Terry Crews and Jamie King.

The film was originally intended to be a raunchy comedy and contained more adult and sexual gags.

These were edited out to allow the film to reach a wider audience but the raunchier gags were included on the DVD release of the film.

Despite its current cultural status, the film was misunderstood on its release and was nominated for several Golden Raspberries or Razzies – the award show for the “worst” films released that season.

The film was nominated for Worst Picture, Worst Actress for the Wayans, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay and Worst Screen Couple.
