UEFA have issued England a two-match stadium ban for the disorder caused by fans at the Euro 2020 final back in July.
The ban means England will have to play their next UEFA international fixture behind closed doors, while the second game within the ban is suspended for a probationary period of two years.
As well as the stadium ban for fans, the English Football Association has been fined €100,000 “for the lack of order and discipline around the stadium, for the invasion of the field of play, for throwing objects and for the disturbances during the national anthems”.
The sanctions relate to the many incidents which occurred during the Euro 2020 final between England and Italy on July 11.
Before the game started, ticketless supporters forced their way into Wembley Stadium which caused clashes in the stands.
During the match, supporters invaded the field, threw objects, caused disturbances during the national anthems and lit fireworks.
A spokesperson for the FA said they condemn the “disgraceful scenes” from the intense final.
“Although we are disappointed with the verdict, we acknowledge the outcome of this UEFA decision,” they said.
“We condemn the terrible behaviour of the individuals who caused the disgraceful scenes in and around Wembley Stadium at the EURO 2020 final, and we deeply regret that some of them were able to enter the stadium.
“We are determined that this can never be repeated, so we have commissioned an independent review, led by Baroness Casey, to report on the circumstances involved. We continue to work with the relevant authorities in support of their efforts to take action against those responsible and hold them to account.”
