Nigerian star Burna Boy has unveiled his plans to host a massive concert to raise money for Africa.
Burna Boy revealed his dream in an Instagram story yesterday (November 4).
“My dream is to make a concert happen similar to Live Aid in the biggest stadium in the UK with all/any artists who care,” he wrote.
“I watched Bohemian Rhapsody and I’ve been thinking, we can raise millions of pounds yearly for the people of Africa if we can do this. We can save our nation and continent with our art.”
Burna Boy also called on the British government to assist him in bringing his goal to life, tagging Prime Minister Boris Johnson as well as United Nations, Global Citizen and CNN Africa.
He added: “It’s just a dream right now but I expect the British government to support this fully. After all most of us are/were British colonies.”
If Burna Boy’s dream did come true, it wouldn’t be the first time he’s used his platform for a good cause. Last year, he joined the likes of Beyonce and Lady Gaga to raise money for the fight against Covid for Global Citizen’s ‘One World: Together At Home’ concert.
Later on in the year, he also supported the #EndSARS movement which was a protest against policy brutality and corruption in the Nigerian police force.
The government are yet to respond to Burna Boy’s call for support to launch a concert in the UK’s biggest stadium but hopefully it’s an initiative that develops.
