Fake tan or perma-tan supplies are under threat due to an ingredient shortage.

Ethoxydiglycol is used to improve the texture of skincare products and help the products to spread on the skin.

An international import, the product is not only used in fake tan but in makeup, deodorant, hair dye and more.

Industry experts are therefore worried that the shortage will have a significant impact on their supplies if it is not fixed soon.

On the shortage, Diane Higham, the director of Stockport-based Sunjunkie that manufactures self-tanning products told The Guardian, “It’s a total nightmare. “It’s a product that goes into a lot of things and you just don’t think that you’re suddenly not going to be able to obtain it anywhere.”

This supply chain issue is just the latest with ministers issuing warnings about possible Christmas food shortages and the lack of drivers plummeting leading to a surge in the price of petrol and diesel.

Petrol prices are currently at a record high with industry experts blaming the price surge on the cost of buying an oil barrel in America.

The shortage of petrol delivery drivers famously caused people to rush out and panic buy fuel which led to queues and shortages across the country.
