Argentine football star Sergio Agüero is considering retiring from the sport due to heart problems, according to reports.
After raising an issue about his chest in a recent game against Alaves, the Barcelona forward was taken off the pitch which was followed up by surgery.
The Spanish side have not confirmed what the player’s issue is but it has been reported he has cardiac arrhythmia, which causes an irregular heartbeat.
Catalunya Radio has now reported that doctors have suggested Aguero considers retiring from football as the issue is so severe.
The former Manchester City star will need to undergo a series of tests before determining whether or not he can continue with his career.
Barcelona have continued to show their support for Aguero.
“The player Kun Agüero has undergone a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure by Dr. Josep Brugada,” the club said in a statement following the incident against against Alaves.
“He is out and for the next three months the effectiveness of the treatment will be evaluated to determine his recovery process.”
