Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is no longer Arsenal’s captain following his recent disciplinary breach.
The north London club confirmed the news in a statement today.
“Following his latest disciplinary breach last week, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will no longer be our club captain, and will not be considered for selection for Wednesday’s match against West Ham United,” the statement reads.
“We expect all our players, particularly our captain, to work to the rules and standards we have all set and agreed.
“We are fully focused on tomorrow’s match.”
The stripping of Aubameyang’s captain role at Arsenal comes after the striker reportedly returned late from a trip to France last week.
As a result, he he was dropped from Arsenal’s match with Southampton on Saturday and will now miss their upcoming game against West Ham.
Aubameyang’s latest disciplinary action has now put his long-term future at Arsenal under Head Coach Mikel Arteta in doubt.
