To celebrate the NBA’s 75th anniversary season and the 2022 Finals, Hennessy and the National Basketball Association (NBA) have teamed up to unveil the UK’s first floating basketball court!
The new court will travel along the River Thames from Woolwich to the House of Parliament and kicks off a three-day celebration of basketball in London.
Once it docks at Butler’s Wharf, the floating court will host an opening ceremony featuring an exclusive live performance from west London rap star AJ Tracey who’ll perform a selection of his hits.
On Friday 10th June, the court will stage a star-studded event called ‘London’s Got Game’ where some of the capital’s biggest names will go head to head in a basketball tournament hosted by former Love Island star and professional basketball player, Ovie Soko. Fans will be able to follow the action here.
The court will open to the public on Saturday 11th June at at free-to-attend event where basketball fans over the age of 18 will be able to take part in free throw challenges and trick shot sessions – all while enjoying Hennessy drinks, street food and music.
“It’s incredible getting NBA fans, like myself, to come together and celebrate the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Season this year,” AJ Tracey said of the event.
“Moments like this really put London’s love of the game on the map and with the ongoing support from Hennessy, I’m excited to see the impact it has on basketball in the UK and the communities it’s giving back to.”
