After shutting things down on p-rallel’s latest EP Forward, rising star Kadeem Tyrell is back with his highly-anticipated project As Time Goes By.
The tape was preceded by the Shaé Universe and Geovarn-assisted “Let Me Know (The Cypher)” — a bouncy, sun-laden R&B jam, as well as the upbeat XVR BLCK-produced “Rider”.
As a complete project, As Time Goes By features eleven neo-soul-glazed gems. Throughout, we catch guest appearances from Omar, Morgan Munroe and XVR BLK — with production from Cay Caleb, Baker Aaron, R-Kay and JD Reid.
Notable highlights include “Do Your Thing”: a welcome throwback soul tune where Tyrell and Munroe come through with some late ‘90s UK flavour reminiscent of Kele Le Roc, Sade and the late Lynden David Hall.
Equally, the promotional single “All My Love”, featuring UK legend Omar sees the duo reimagine a beaming summer day in song form.
It’s been a long three-year wait since Tyrell’s last project, Elements, but As Time Goes By has been worth the wait. With a stronghold of re-playable material and timeless production throughout, the project stands as one of the best R&B/soul releases of 2022.
