Atlanta’s Shawty Lo has been killed in a fatal car accident this morning in Fulton County, Georgia. Shawty, real name Carlos Walker, was 40 years old and left eleven children.
The crash temporarily blocked the I-285 southbound ramp to Cascade Road at around 2:20am this morning. The Atlanta Police haven’t yet released a description of the vehicle that fled the scene.
The founder of rap group D4L was driving from Atlanta’s popular strip joint Blue Flame when, according to reports, a white Audi went over a guard rail before it hit two trees and burst into flames. The driver was taken from the Audi and pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people in the car were injured and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A video of one a car involved in the crash was posted to Twitter.
The Fulton Medical Examiner’s office hasn’t yet confirmed the victim in the crash, but the rapper’s brother and manager confirmed the death on Twitter.
Shawty Lo was known for his 2006 hit “Dey Know”, which reached Number 1 on the Billboard chart in 2006.
May he rest in peace.
