Burna Boy has released a mini documentary to highlight some important issues affecting his hometown in Nigeria.

The short film is titled after Burna’s powerful single “Whiskey” – taken from his Love, Damini album – and explores the impact of pollution, flooding and negligence in Burna’s hometown of Port Harcourt. The hard-hitting documentary features interviews from a range of members of the community including a doctor, traders and a flood victim who sadly lost her son due to pollution in the area.

“Everything was a lot worse than the way I left it,” Burna said at an exclusive screening of the doc in London during the week. “The air was fully polluted, everything would be black when you wake up, even the cars. It’s really what you see in the documentary. This is real life, everyday life for my people.

“I feel like we’ll make songs about everything else, so why not make songs about what’s really going on and what’s really affecting the people in real time. That’s what the song “Whiskey” is.”
