A first look at Wasteman has just dropped, giving us a taste of one of next year’s most intense British thrillers. Directed by Cal McMau in his feature debut, the film follows Taylor, a convict on the brink of parole after years inside, but his shot at freedom is thrown into chaos when a ruthlessly violent new cellmate, Dee, pulls him into a brutal prison rivalry.
The claustrophobic, high-stakes drama stars rising British talents David Jonsson and Tom Blyth, and promises an unflinching look at the prison ecosystem and the fight for redemption against all odds.
Wasteman had its world premiere at TIFF and its UK debut at the 69th BFI London Film Festival as part of the Thrill Strand. Following its festival run, the film is set to hit UK cinemas on 20 February 2026.
