R&B/ neo soul artist Carrie Baxter releases her new full-length album Seven, a deeply personal journey through identity, healing, and growth.
Through a layered reflection on the moments and emotions that define being human, Baxter delves into her inner world, heritage, and personal connections. Her candid, diary-like writing captures a search for forgiveness and the urge to mend long-standing emotional scars. The album concludes with “St John (Be Good to Me),” a contemplative final piece in which Baxter reflects on her nuanced and deeply felt relationship with God, arriving at a sense of calm after confronting everything head-on.
Discussing the project, Baxter explains: “For the first time in my life, I was truly confronting my own truth… and I realized I had to continue doing that. The number seven is often seen as a symbol of completion — tied to ideas of spirituality, reflection, transcendence, and a connection to something greater. Those ideas kept surfacing while I was writing. By the end, calling the album Seven felt completely natural.”
